Benatky Masters 2019

The last tournament of 2018 was Benátky Masters 2018 in Benátky nad Jizerou. Only 4 players from 4 countries were invited. Adrian Dziolko from Poland, Luka Wraber from Austria a Cristian Savin z Moldova. There were two semifinal matches and then the finals. The opponents were determined during the draw ceremony on Thursday, 27.12.

On Thursday’s semifinals, I was up against Cristian Savina. I had already played against him this year. And this time I won again, in two sets, 21/15, 21/11. The beginning of the match was quite tied, I was figuring out what my opponent’s style is. Then I started to increase the game pace, and I didn’t give Cristian any chance. I was trying to enjoy every moment of the match and I felt great. In the other semifinal, Adrian Dziolko won his match against Luka Wraber.

The finals took place in front of a huge crowd of spectators at 19 o’clock. My Polish opponent, Dziolko, took part in the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio, and in the rankings he is in the top 50. I was enjoying the whole match, just like in the semifinals. I don’t have much to say about it, I won 21/17, 21/15 and the feeling was just amazing. There aren’t many moments like this, but when they do happen, it makes all the loses and setbacks worth it. I was so happy about my performance, especially because it was in my homeland, the Czech Republic.

Now I’m on my way back to Germany, where I will spend the next month preparing for the upcoming tournaments in February. I have enjoyed Christmas very much and I also had time to have a rest.

Now I’m full of energy for the future.

Greetings, Adam
