After South American tournaments
March was a very busy month for me. I played three tournaments on two continents and all that traveling and time zone crossing got me really tired. Anyway, I managed to achieve the goals I had set with my team. Moving up the world ranking on 128 position and almost certainly qualifying for the world championship in late August in Glasgow.
At the first tournament, Jamaica international 2017, I took the second place, after losing to Soeren Toft from Denmark in the very end of the third set. I especially regret losing the two matchballs I had when the score was 20/18, and so losing 14/21, 21/14, 20/20. Then I travelled to Sao Paulo, where the 32nd Brazilian International Cup 2017 was taking place. There I lost the match for quarterfinals against the second seeded player, Niluka Karunaratne. The conditions on the court were making it really difficult for me to stay composed and focus on the match.
As an exception, I also played doubles with Jonathan Persson and we took a surprising second place. After that, I flew back to Europe for my last tournament, Polish Open 2017 in Warsaw. The draw was not pleasant at all, as my opponent for the first round was the fifth seeded player, Nick Fransman from the Netherlands. There isn’t much to write about this match. My performance was not even half of my standard.
Now there is the final of Czech Extraliga and then starts a 3 week period of preparing for Peru International Challenge in Lima, the last tournament before the qualification for WC is over. Greetings from Brno, Adam
